Alumni
You’ll find our alumni in many places – watch them on television programs, at the movies, see them on the stage, hear them streaming, read their published work, see their pieces in galleries and public spaces – nationally and across the globe! Over the years, SPCPA graduates have attended and been awarded scholarships to a number of top colleges. Some of these include: CALArts, Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia College, Columbia University, Cornish College of the Arts, DePaul University, Evansville University, Grinnell College, The Juilliard School, New York University, Northwestern University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Sarah Lawrence College, St. Catherine University, Tisch School of the Arts, The University of Minnesota- Twin Cities (+ BFA Guthrie Training Program), The University of Iowa, The University of Minnesota-Duluth, The University of St. Thomas, Vassar College, and Yale University.
Huge congrats to SPCPA Theatre alum, LUCY DURBEN (2020), a senior screenwriting major and theatre minor at Loyola Marymount University, who was selected by the Television Academy Foundation to be their Development (Scripted) intern at host company FX (THE BEAR, SHŌGUN, FARGO) – a highly competative position. Essence Renae (SPCPA and Carnegie Mellon grad) taught a Master Class yesterday followed by a conversation with 11th and 12th grade theatre and musical theatre students. Congrats to SPCPA alum, Rogen Abdalla, who has a mural on display in the exhibition “Art and Artifact: Murals from the Minneapolis Uprising” at the Katherine E Nash Gallery (@umn_nash ) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Co-organized by Memorialize the Movement, the exhibition brings together murals painted on plywood after the murder of George Floyd. Rogen’s mural was selected from over 1000 for inclusion, and appears alongside many established local and street artists.
