Twin cities arts community

An important part of SPCPA’s purpose is to connect the students and the school to the Twin Cities professional arts community in a number of ways.

  1. SPCPA supports students who need to miss school to perform locally with professional and youth arts organizations.
  2. Each artistic discipline offers multiple master classes taught by guest artists. Local professionals are regularly invited to perform for and dialogue with students.
  3. Arts teachers are local professional artists and they connect the students to the organizations they represent.
  4. J-Term projects happen in local professional venues.
  5. SPCPA maintains an Arts Advisory Council composed of arts leaders in the community.

They’re all amazing!!! 👏🏻👏🏻

It's always a great day at SPCPA when we have a guest artist in for a master class. Even better when that artist is an Alum! Shane Larson (2011), who has danced with the extraordinary Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company for many years was with 11th and 12th grade dance students this past Friday. Thank you, Shane – and congrats on all of your post SPCPA artistic adventures!

At the Guthrie Theater, he has performed in over 80(!) productions including King Lear, Othello, Burial at Thebes, An Iliad, and the History Plays. Stephen was in The Children, The Nether, The Night Alive, The Seafarer, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at The Jungle Theater. He has performed at Pillsbury House Theatre, The Playwrights' Center, and at Carnegie Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra. Stephen is a recipient of the McKnight Theater Artists award. He is also the proud father of a past SPCPA graduate. Thank you, Stephen!

The SPCPA graduation ceremoney will happen at The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University on Tuesday, May 27, at 7PM. Some tickets will be made available to the public. SPCPA familes will receive more info after spring break.
