SPCPA Students About Town

 

SPCPA students are appearing at:

SPCPA Sophomore Dylan Wald spent 3 weeks at Julliard’s Summer Dance Intensive, in New York this past summer. He auditioned and was one of only 45 high school students chosen from all over the world for the program. He studied ballet, modern, partnering and ballroom dance. For more information on the summer program, please visit

Over the summer, SPCPA students Lexi Parra, Lexi Duffy, Mary Berthelson, Andrew Kohagen, Sarah Smith, Alexandra Nedved, and Marianna Mattes were awarded the opportunity to study Musical Theatre Performance at the Open Jar Institute Actor Training Program in New York City. For one week they attended high intensity workshops in acting, singing, dance, and audition technique taught by Broadway professionals and New York casting directors and agents. Each night, they saw a Broadway show and met the cast afterwards for backstage tours. “This was the best week of my life!” raved Musical Theatre senior Andrew Kohagen.

SPCPA students Celena Morgan and Eli Newell participated in the Children’s Theatre Company’s production of Assassins.

SPCPA sophomore Kennadi Hurst will be performing in Come on Children, Let’s Sing!, a special musical tribute to Mahali a Jackson, the Queen of Gospel.  The show is presented by Penumbra Theatre with three performances on October 21,22,23 at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. SPCPA sophomore Kelly Jones is involved with the upcoming production of “My Secret Language of Wishes,” part of the Center of the Margins festival at the Mixed Blood Theatre. The show runs from November 11- November 27. Kelly is an advisor and understudy. For more information, please visit

SPCPA sophomore Mac Rasmus will be appearing in”Speech and Debate” at the Lowry Lab Theatre on November 17 through November 27. For more information, please visit www.wix.com/gadflytheatre/gadfly.

SPCPA sophomores Kenzie Allen and Eli Newell and junior Emily Scinto will appear in Children’s Theatre Company’s production of The Wizard of Oz which runs November 8-January 8. For more information, please visit www.childrenstheatre.org

Instrumental students Whistler Allen, DeCarlo Jackson, David Kramer, and Nathan Stocker, members of the band “Danger Will Robinson”, competed in “Battle of the Bands” which was sponsored by Famous Dave’s. They made it to the finals and finished in the top four out of sixteen bands.

Sophia Johnson, SPCPA freshman in the dance track, performed the song “Beautiful” on October 1, 2011 at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Imagination Ball at the Depot in Minneapolis in front of hundreds of people.

SPCPA sophomores Emily Kleinschmidt, Gabby Nelson, Dylan Wald, and freshman Annie Richardson will be performing in Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy at the newly furbished Cowles Center which runs from December 23rd to December 31st. SPCPA alumni Lexi Bruns was chosen to study dance in Sorrento, Italy in a two week dance intensive with Staib Dance of Atlanta Georgia with other students from California Berkley, Florida State, Winthrop University, and University of Georgia. Lexi was one of two high school students that were chosen to participate.

Early Release at 3:25 PM Wednesdays

Students will be released at 3:25 PM every Wednesday each semester.  This schedule does not apply to J-Term. The Landmark Commons will be available to students needing to remain on campus past 3:25 PM.

Winter Break Dec. 18 – Jan. 2

Holilday break is scheduled for Saturday, December 18, 2010 through Sunday, January 2, 2011.  Second Semester continues Monday, January 3, 2011.


Conferences October 28th & 29th

Conferences have been scheduled for Thursday, October 28th and Friday, October 29th, 2010.  School will be dismissed early (12:25 PM) on the 28th.  There will be no school on the 29th.


No School October 22 – Education Minnesota

There will be no school on Friday, October 22, 2010.


Paul de Cordova in Dudley: Rigged for Laughter!

Paul de Cordova will perform in History Theatre’s production of Dudley: Rigged for Laughter! October 2 – October 24, 2010.

Annie Enneking Asst. Director in CTC’s Robin Hood

Annie Enneking is the Assistant Director in Children’s Theatre Company’s production of Robin Hood, on the Cargill Stage.  September 28 – December 5, 2010.

Cory Hinkle’s Little Eyes at Guthrie’s Dowling Studio

The Guthrie Theater presents a Workhaus Collective production of Little Eyes by Cory Hinkle, directed by Jeremy Wilhelm.  February 4 – February 20, 2011.
